Habeas Corpus has been repealed by the Military Commissions Act. This means that the police can snatch anyone off the streets at any time for any reason (or no reason), and they can jail you for life. Without Habeas Corpus, there is no trial by jury, no defense attorney, and no right to be confronted by your accusers. They don’t even have to tell you why you are in prison.
